Taylor Steele video. Winner of the 1998 Surfer Video Awards for BEST VIDEO OF THE YEAR! All the usual suspects. While The Show visits Pipeline, Jeffreys Bay, Kirra and other world-class locations, the majority of the surfing is done in the kind of everyday beachbreak and reef conditions that most mortals deal with daily. The Show shows the kind of high-energy blasting that great surfers can do in waves like this--finding barrels and airing it out wherever possible. Ninety percent of The Show looks like all of Steeles past videos, upgraded with cleaner cinematography and a slightly higher level of surfing. This time he had two years and two full-time assistants to help gather footage, so he had a lot more nuggets from which to cherry pick. Steeles editing style also appears to be slowing down and maturing with age, and we get to see a lot more rides from beginning to end. Where Steele is truly branching out, though, is in the fringes. ![]() |
