This event rewards progressive surfing along with creative shaping. The Surfer/Shaper Challenge is the first of many to come. Rusty plans to open up ideas of shaping and share the technology with others through events like this. His C5 design was used by numerous contestants. The contest was designed in concept to inspire the best surfing, being the most controlled radical maneuvering in the most critical sections of a wave. Featuring the surfing and shaping talents of Ward, Hobgood, Curren, Gerlack, Collins, Larson, Curtis, Matteson, Randazzo, Malloy, Andino, Weatherby, Catto, Beschen, Fletcher, Mael and Virosco. |
